 May 17, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm -  Dallidet Adobe and Gardens open to the public
(Rain Permitting). Dallidet address is 1185 Pacific Street, San Luis Obispo.

May 17 - New World Baroque Orchestra at Dana Adobe's Old Spanish Days (several sets during the day).

May 21 - Cal Poly OSHER Lifelong Learning Speakers Series – Avila Community Center – San Miguel Drive in Avila. Free - Bring your lunch – Beverages and dessert served.

Dr. George Cotkin, noted Professor of Intellectual History at California Polytechnic University will speak on: “Black Like Me” by John Howard Griffin. Dr. Cotkin is author of: “William James, Public Philosopher,” “Reluctant Modernism, American Thought and Culture 1880-1900,” “ Existential America,” and recently, “History’s Moral Turn.”

Dr. Cotkin ponders whether societies or historians can experience the empathy necessary to understand or represent “other.” Was John Howard Griffin making history, writing history, or engaging in a delusional attempt to bridge the racial gap? Have “we” made progress since the ‘60s in understanding “other”?

May 30 - 31, - Moguls, Millionaires & Movie Stars: Hollywood Between the Wars, 1920 - 1940 at the Huntington Library, Art Gallery, and Gardens in San Marino. This symposium is a follow up to the Hearst Symposium of Oct. 2005 at Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo. Friday’s session is “The Patrician Moguls: WR Hearst, Joseph P. Kennedy & Howard Hughes. A second session is on “Imperial Hollywood: the Studios Ascendant”. Saturday’s events start with a welcome by William R. Hearst III. The session is entitled “From L.A. to the World: Hollywood in the Radio & the Daily Press” followed by a session “Park Ave. Gone West: Hollywood Builds & Collects”. May 31, 2:00pm - 5:00pm - Desserts at the Dallidet, at the Dallidet Adobe & Gardens, 1185 Pacific Street, San Luis Obispo. Enjoy live music in a wonderful Mediterranean garden setting along with desserts and wine. Tours of the Adobe will be available along with a raffle and silent auction. Auction items include tickets to Disneyland park, a SpongeBob Squarepants poster signed by the show's creator, and gift certificates to the Palm Theater.

June 28, 8:00pm - Festival of the Bells at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa.

June 28 -  Daytime: next meeting of the Carrizo Plains National Monument Advisory Committee, time and location to be announced.  Evening: New World Baroque Orchestra at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa.

July 7, Probably 1:30pm - Tentative date for first hearing by County Planning Commission on the development plan for the Santa Margarita Ranch.
